Anna Lesko – PhD student, Baylor Geosciences, received an Outstanding Teaching Assistant Award from the National Association of Geoscience Teachers (NAGT) in June 2022. This award is based on performance in the classroom, student engagement and evaluation, collaboration with other graduate teaching assistants, and supervisor nomination. Anna consistently demonstrated excellence in the World Oceans labs and maintains the teaching excellence in Baylor’s Geoscience Department demonstrated by previous Baylor graduate students who have won this award – Sam Barber (2020), Jiajun (Dylan) Jiang (2019), and Bart Yeates (2018). Anna is being mentored by Dr. Steve Dworkin and was nominated by Sharon Browning, Lab Coordinator for Geosciences. Anna is completing an internship with Cold Regions Research and Engineering Laboratory (CRREL) in Alaska this summer but will resume her excellent teaching this fall. Awardees receive a one-year membership to NAGT, including an online subscription to the Journal of Geoscience Education.
