Outreach
At Baylor Geoscience, our goal is to introduce students and the public to the wonders of geoscience whenever possible. Each year we host and participate in a wide variety of outreach events.
Past partners have included pre-K-12 schools in Waco and the surrounding area, Region 12 teachers and students, the Mayborn Museum, school geology clubs, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and Master Naturalists. We have developed and participated in activities such as rock/mineral and fossil identification, scientist talks, fossil digs, fossil collecting field trips, an occasional solar eclipse, and hands on earthquake hazard demonstrations.
We are always interested in collaborating with new partners and participating in new outreach activities. Please contact the Geoscience Lab Coordinator Sharon Browning about our upcoming outreach events or to schedule a new opportunity!
