Research OSL dating for the community
The Geoluminescence Dating Research Laboratory undertakes a limited number of outside analyses for the community. OSL dating is an experiment-based dating method with generation of large data sets needed to compute ages. The mineral chosen for dating, either quartz or feldspar, have highly diverse luminescence properties, and some minerals may not be inherently datable. Other concerns are field-based with sampling of the appropriate light-exposed sedimentary facies and collection to preserve unlight-exposed sediments. We welcome dialog with those in community on the efficaciousness OSL dating in a variety of depositional settings. Please contact Steve Forman at: Steven_Forman@baylor.edu
If samples are submitted please fill out the sample submittal form below.
We welcome graduate students and post-doctoral scholars that would like to explore OSL dating for their research; those interested contact Steve Forman at Steven_Forman@baylor.edu.
